Lash Extension Styles: Find Your Perfect Look

Classic, volume, cat eye, doll eye — ten lash styles, side by side. What each one does for your eyes, and how to choose the one that fits you.

"Classic", "hybrid", "volume", "mega volume" — if you have ever read a lash menu and felt none the wiser, you are not alone. The names describe the technique, not the look you will see in the mirror, and the difference between them is easy to feel the moment someone shows you.

So here is every style we offer at Mona's Lash Lounge, side by side, with what each one is actually for.

Find your perfect look — ten styles, one chart.

First, decide how much drama you want

Lash styles sit on a scale from barely-there to unmistakable. Where you land is mostly your own taste, with a nudge from the occasion.

Classic. One extension on each natural lash. The most natural result we offer — like a great mascara you never have to reapply. The right place to start if this is your first set.

Hybrid. A mix of classic and volume lashes. Softer than full volume, fuller than classic — the balance most clients settle into once they know what they like.

Volume. Several ultra-fine lashes fanned onto each natural lash, for a full, fluffy, visibly-done look that still moves naturally.

Mega Volume. The maximum — the most fans, the deepest and darkest line. Dramatic and unmissable, for when you want your lashes to be the feature.

Then think about the shape you want to give your eyes

Technique decides fullness; placement decides shape. Two people can both get "volume" and leave looking completely different, depending on where the length is placed.

Cat Eye. Longer lashes at the outer corners, pulling the eye up and out into a lifted, winged shape.

Fox Eye. Like cat eye but more elongated — a sultry, lifted, almond effect.

Doll Eye. Length concentrated in the centre to open the eye wide and round — bright and awake.

Wispy. Alternating lengths for a textured, feathery finish — the "your lashes but better" look that reads effortless.

A few that are about finish, not shape

Brown Lashes. The same work in a soft brown instead of black. Warmer and more natural, especially flattering on lighter features or for anyone who finds black a little stark.

Glam. Bold, dark and voluminous, built to photograph beautifully. Weddings, shoots, big nights out.

Still not sure which one is yours?

That is exactly what the consultation is for. Bring a photo of a look you love, or just tell us the vibe — natural for work, something dramatic for an event, or lashes you never have to think about again. Your artist will match a style to your eye shape, your natural lashes, and how much upkeep you want.

Questions we get asked

Which lash style is best for first-timers?

Classic or hybrid. They look the most natural and are the easiest to live with while you learn what you like.

Can I combine a shape like cat eye with classic lashes?

Yes. Shape (cat eye, doll eye, fox eye) and technique (classic, hybrid, volume) are chosen separately, so they can be mixed to suit you.

Are brown lashes less noticeable than black?

They are softer and warmer, not necessarily less full. Many clients choose brown for an everyday, natural finish.

How long will a set last?

A full set lasts the natural lash growth cycle; most clients come in for a fill every two to three weeks to keep it looking fresh.
